在美麗富饒的蘇中平原上，一座新城正在崛起。創(chuàng)建于1993年的姜堰經濟開發(fā)區(qū)，是姜堰市政府精心打造的新型工業(yè)示范區(qū)、姜堰新城區(qū)。經過幾年的發(fā)展，一座充滿現(xiàn)代化氣息的新城區(qū)框架基本形成。
　　建區(qū)以來，企業(yè)總數(shù)已經超過300家，其中來自歐美、澳洲、日韓、南非、新加坡、港臺企業(yè)近百家，區(qū)內主要經濟指標年年攀升。
　　開發(fā)區(qū)總規(guī)劃面積近100平方公里。一期總面積約20平方公里，初步形成了新能源產業(yè)基地、國家級高新技術產業(yè)化基地、國家級汽車零部件生產基地、江蘇五金機電產業(yè)特色園，和以華東五金城、錦天汽配港、錦江商貿城等為龍頭的現(xiàn)代物流服務業(yè)。二期建設將強化區(qū)域功能、延伸產業(yè)鏈條、提升集群層次、改善區(qū)域布局、優(yōu)化產業(yè)結構。新城區(qū)建設秉承“綠色、科技”的理念，著力構筑產業(yè)投資的洼地，打造蘇中地區(qū)產業(yè)升級的新平臺�！�

A new city is rising up in middle Jiangsu plain. Jiangyan Economic Development Zone, established in 1993, is the new demonstrative industrial park and new urban district carefully created by Jiangyan Government. For years’ development, the basic frame of a new urban district full of modern atmosphere is formed.
　　Since its establishment, there’re over 300 enterprises, hereinto over 100 ones from Europe, America, Japan, Korea, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Its economic index increases every year.
　　The total planned area of the development zone is about 100 square kilometers. The first phase is about 20 square kilometers, which has preliminarily formed new energy industry base,national hi-tech industry base, national auto part production base and provincial hardware electromechanical industrial park; as well as modern logistic service industry considering East China Hardware Plaza, Jintian Auto Part Port and Jinjiang Trade Center as leading enterprises. The second phase will focus on strengthening regional function, extending industrial chain, upgrading cluster level, improving regional layout and optimizing industrial structure. The new urban district is built under the spirit of “green, science and technology” to construct a depression of industrial investment and build a lever to prizing industrial upgrading in Central Jiangsu.
